Crafted in Finland, the Mama Chair has been designed by Samuli Helavuo, in collaboration with Hakola. The Finnish furniture manufacturer Hakola is located in the small town of Jurva in Southern Ostrobothnia — its name is symbolic of skillful carpentry and strong Finnish traditions.

The wooden chair is made from natural oak. The unpadded chair comes with or without armrests. The padded version only comes with arms. Its ergonomic and elegant design was inspired by traditional Nordic furniture as well as contemporary aesthetics. Some of its features required a close dialogue between the artisan woodworkers and Samuli due to a complexity not easily achieved.

This Product Plants A Tree

As part of ÅBEN's mission to make a more positive contribution to the environment, we have partnered with One Tree Planted to plant one tree for every product sold. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

We need more trees. Find out more on onetreeplanted.org
